Title: Jr.IT Security Analyst

Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite) in Alameda CA 94502

Duration: 6-12+ Months extendable

Position Summary

• The Junior Security Analyst supports Alameda Alliance for Health's cybersecurity program through security monitoring, vulnerability management, identity and access management, incident response, security documentation, and compliance activities.
• The individual must be disciplined self-starter who demonstrates accountability, resourcefulness, attention to detail, and a continuous-learning mindset. This position requires the ability to independently research issues, develop practical solutions, and effectively document findings, procedures, and recommendations.
• The successful candidate will possess foundational systems administration and networking knowledge that enables effective collaboration with Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, and Service Desk teams to identify and remediate security risks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Documentation & Process Management

• Create, maintain, and improve cybersecurity procedures, standards, runbooks, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Document security investigations, remediation activities, root cause analyses, and lessons learned in a clear and auditable manner.
• Develop and update knowledge base articles to support operational efficiency and cross-team collaboration.
• Ensure security processes are consistently documented and repeatable.

Operational Ownership & Accountability

• Take ownership of assigned security tasks from identification through resolution.
• Proactively follow up with stakeholders to ensure remediation activities are completed within established timelines.
• Escalate risks, delays, and unresolved issues appropriately.
• Demonstrate sound judgment when balancing security requirements with operational needs.
• Participate in on-call and incident response activities as assigned.

Independent Research & Problem Solving

• Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, technologies, and security best practices.
• Independently investigate security alerts and technical issues using available tools and data sources.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend practical solutions.
• Demonstrate resourcefulness in troubleshooting and resolving security-related issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in one or more of the following:

• Cybersecurity
• Help Desk / Technical Support
• Systems Administration
• Network Administration
• Cloud Administration
• Information Technology Operations

OR

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in technology-related discipline and relevant internship or hands-on technical experience.
