About The Client
We're recruiting for an established UK engineering organisation providing specialist maintenance and technical services across commercial fleet environments.
They're looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer with a strong mechanical or electrical foundation. This could be a particularly good opportunity for an ex-forces engineer looking to transfer practical technical skills into a civilian field-based career.
The Benefits
* £28,000 basic salary, with potential flexibility for highly relevant experience
* Overtime opportunities with the potential to add around £7,000 to annual earnings
* Company vehicle available for personal use
* Full technical and product training
* Optional one-in-four weekend on-call rota
* Varied, field-based engineering work
* Scope to develop your skills across mechanical, electrical and specialist equipment
The Field Service Engineer Role
You'll work across commercial fleet sites throughout Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas, carrying out maintenance, fault finding and repairs on a range of specialist equipment.
The role offers plenty of technical variety. You'll work across wash equipment, fuel dispensing systems and associated on-site payment technology, using both mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
Day to day, you could be working with:
* Hydraulics and mechanical systems
* Motors and solenoids
* Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
* Basic PCBs and electrical components
* Fuel dispensing equipment
* Commercial wash equipment
* On-site payment systems
* Fault finding and preventative maintenance
Field Service Engineer Essential Skills
We're looking for somebody who is practical, technically minded and comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.
You don't need to be equally strong mechanically and electrically, but you should have a solid foundation in at least one discipline with the confidence and willingness to develop across both.
Experience or knowledge of the following would be beneficial:
* Mechanical or electrical maintenance
* Electrical fault finding
* Hydraulics, motors or solenoids
* Single-phase or three-phase systems
* Using a multimeter
* Basic PCB knowledge
* Fuel dispensers or tank gauges would be particularly advantageous
* A hands-on engineering background gained within the Armed Forces would transfer well into this environment
Applications are welcomed from both ex-forces and civilian engineers with relevant transferable technical experience.
