Senior Data Engineer with Security Clearance

Senior Data Engineer Location: North Charleston, SC (Hybrid) Clearance: Secret Clearance Eligible (Active Secret Preferred) Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire Schedule: Onsite / Hybrid Pay Rate: Up to $65/hr Insight Global is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to support a large federal program in North Charleston, SC. This engineer will play a key role in designing and building scalable data solutions that support mission-critical applications and analytics initiatives.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity focused on developing modern data platforms, architecting robust data solutions, and mentoring junior team members. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges, building efficient backend systems, and contributing to application development in an Agile environment. What You'll Be Doing

• Design and develop scalable data architectures and data repositories
• Build and optimize ETL processes, data pipelines, triggers, and historical data structures
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Lead technical implementation efforts and mentor team members
• Collaborate with software engineers, data leads, and stakeholders within an Agile development environment
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of enterprise data platforms
• Contribute hands-on development using database and backend technologies Technical Environment

2-Week Sprint Cycles Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Network -Security, Physics, or a related technical discipline

-5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Software Engineering, or a related field

• Experience designing and building data pipelines, ETL processes, historical data models, triggers, and large-scale data platforms
• Strong hands-on experience in software development and data engineering environments
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
• Willingness to obtain Security+ certification within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance
• Current Security+ Certification
• Extensive PostgreSQL experience
• Experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers
• Strong backend development background using Java and SQL
