Effluent Treatment Plant Operator

Salary:  £36,410 p/a

Location: Lacock, Wiltshire

Working Hours: 4on4off,Days & Nights  (06.00am-18.00pm / 18.00pm - 06.00am)

As an Effluent Treatment Plant Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our wastewater treatment processes. You will be responsible for monitoring plant performance, maintaining equipment, and supporting environmental compliance standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the effluent treatment plant to ensure optimal performance and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Carry out routine inspections, sampling, testing, and recording of process data.
• Monitor chemical dosing systems and adjust treatment processes as required.
• Respond promptly to alarms, process deviations, and equipment failures to minimise environmental risk.
• Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping activities within the treatment plant area.
• Liaise with external contractors and regulatory bodies when required.
• Maintain accurate records of plant performance, sampling results, and compliance documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency, sustainability, and environmental performance.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and food production standards.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues across utilities and wastewater treatment systems.

• Previous experience operating wastewater, effluent, utilities, or process treatment equipment is desirable.
• Understanding of environmental compliance and wastewater treatment processes would be advantageous.
• Ability to interpret readings, collect samples, and maintain accurate records.
• Good problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to investigating and resolving issues.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and confidence working with pumps, valves, and treatment equipment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
