Project Manager – Utility Surveys
Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum + Comprehensive Benefits Package
Location: Glasgow (with operational travel across Scotland and the wider UK)

Are you an experienced, technically astute Utility Survey Professional looking to take genuine ownership of high-value projects, team leadership, and commercial delivery within an industry-leading consultancy?
A Leading Specialist is expanding its Scottish operations and seeking a highly skilled Project Manager – Utility Surveys to lead and develop their established team in Glasgow. This is a pivotal management appointment offering the scope to direct utility survey schemes from inception to completion, influence technical workflows, and mentor the next generation of surveyors across a diverse infrastructure portfolio.
The Opportunity:
You will play a vital role in leading multidisciplinary utility mapping commissions, ensuring all operations align strictly with industry standards and commercial targets. Your day-to-day remit involves:
  • Managing multiple utility survey projects concurrently from instruction, resourcing, and mobilisation through to final sign-off and delivery.
  • Briefing, deploying, and mentoring Utility Surveyors and Trainees while conducting site audits to uphold rigorous SHEQ standards.
  • Providing authoritative technical guidance across PAS 128 specifications, robustly reviewing deliverables to guarantee technical precision.
  • Acting as the primary operational contact for key clients, managing variations, monitoring project budgets, and driving commercial margin performance.
Technical Essentials:
To be successful, you must demonstrate high-level technical proficiency and proven operational leadership:
  • Mandatory: Substantial utility mapping background (~5+ years' specialist experience), with demonstrated supervisory or project management capability. Professional membership of CICES or RICS is advantageous.
  • Compliance/Systems: In-depth technical mastery of PAS 128 standards, alongside practical expertise in Electromagnetic Locators (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems.
  • Experience: Proven track record delivering end-to-end subsurface utility projects, controlling commercial performance, and reviewing/signing off complex CAD/survey data.
  • Mobility: Full UK Driving Licence with willingness to travel to project sites as operational demands dictate.
