BluGenix is the blueberry genetics and breeding business unit within Costa Group, one of the world's leading fresh produce companies and a major global berry producer.Costa grows and markets premium produce across Australia and internationally, with berry operations spanning Australia, China, Laos and Morocco.

Our breeding program is driven by a deep understanding of both grower needs and consumer expectations, ensuring every variety delivers value from farm to market.

As part of the Costa Group family, BluGenix offers the agility and innovation of a specialised genetics program, backed by the scale, resources and global reach of an international horticultural leader.

Now we are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager based in Coffs Harbour, NSW, to lead the ongoing global commercialisation and adoption of BluGenix berry genetics. This role is central to delivering long term growth through strategic customer partnerships, disciplined sales planning, and robust commercial and royalty frameworks.

BluGenix is seeking a commercially minded and relationship-focused professional to help drive the global growth of our berry genetics program. Whether your background is in agribusiness, horticulture, food production, licensing, commercial strategy or business development, you'll bring a passion for identifying opportunities, building partnerships and turning strategy into results.

You thrive in a role that blends commercial thinking with stakeholder engagement. Comfortable working across international markets, you'll enjoy building strong relationships with growers, customers and industry partners while helping influence the future direction of a rapidly growing global genetics business.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys creating value through collaboration, analysis and strategic planning. You'll be equally comfortable discussing growth opportunities with customers, developing long-term commercial plans, and using data and market insights to support business decisions across a global operation.

What you'll do:
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with customers, growers and industry partners to support the global adoption of BluGenix berry genetics.
  • Develop and execute commercial growth strategies, identifying new opportunities, regions and partners to accelerate variety uptake.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, royalty projections and commercial models to support planning, performance monitoring and investment decisions.
  • Work closely with breeding, technical and operational teams to align commercial opportunities with long-term business objectives.
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs and industry developments to provide insights that support business growth and strategic decision-making.
What you'll bring:
  • A tertiary qualification in agribusiness, horticulture, commerce, finance or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience within horticulture, agribusiness or a related sector is highly regarded.
  • Experience in business development, commercial management, sales, licensing or a related commercial role.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across customers, growers and internal stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen and analytical capability, including experience with forecasting, financial analysis or business planning.
  • A proactive and results-focused approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and drive outcomes in a dynamic environment.
