Job Description

Position Overview

We are looking for a high-level, execution-focused Operations Manager to serve as the de facto Site Head for our mobile video game studio in Bangalore. With a tight-knit team of 30 talented front-end developers, back-end developers, QC Engineers, and support staff, we need a leader who can bridge the gap between high-level studio strategy and day-to-day execution.

In this role, you will be the ultimate enabler for the game development team. By owning the operational, administrative, financial, and cultural health of the studio, you will clear the runway so our creatives can focus on what they do best: building incredible games. You will be the senior local leader, acting as the main point of contact for external partners and global leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Studio Leadership & Governance

  • Local Site Ownership: Act as the primary leader and representative for the Bangalore site, championing studio culture, alignment with global goals, and local compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate between departments and group-level management to eliminate operational bottlenecks and streamline workflows.
  • Crisis & Risk Management: Proactively identify project delays, resource constraints, or operational risks, implementing quick interventions to keep workflows on track.

Operations & Facility Management

  • Studio Infrastructure: Oversee day-to-day office operations, facilities, and IT infrastructure setup (software supply, hardware procurement, and security protocols).
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Manage local vendor relationships, including IT support, CA, and legal counsel, facility providers, and external outsourcing partners.

Financial Oversight

  • Budgeting & Burn Rate Tracking: Manage the local studio budget, tracking monthly operational expenses, hardware/software licensing costs, and overhead.
  • Resource Allocation: Partner with production leads to optimize team allocation and ensure hiring plans align with budget milestones.

People Operations & Culture

  • Talent Acquisition Support: Partner with HR/Recruitment to scale the studio efficiently, ensuring a frictionless onboarding experience for new game developers and other staff alike.
  • Performance & Culture: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance environment. Organize team building, handle local employee relations, and keep studio morale high through demanding crunch periods.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 6+ years of operational management experience, ideally within the gaming industry, mobile application sector, or a highly creative tech startup environment.
  • Scale Familiarity: Proven experience managing operations or acting as a site lead for a team of 10-50 people. You thrive in small, agile, fast-paced setups where you wear multiple hats.
  • Industry Knowledge: Some understanding of the game development lifecycle (pre-production through live-ops) and the unique infrastructure needs of game developers.
  • Location Expertise: Strong knowledge of the Bangalore tech ecosystem, local labor landscapes, and vendor networks.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence, conflict resolution skills, and the ability to influence without direct creative authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience reporting directly to an overseas or remote HQ/Studio Head.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum production methodologies.
  • Experience supporting LiveOps environments
