Associate Data Center Technician - Onsite

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Associate Data Center Technician - Onsite for a 12 month contract position with a Leading Technology Firm located in Manassas, VA.

As an Associate Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting all failed hard drives and DIMMs. This role involves the installation of new SSD and NVME drives into existing servers, as well as the installation, routing, termination, and testing of copper and fiber network cabling within the data center. You will be mentored by level 2 data center technicians and assist them with various server maintenance tasks as necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Installation, routing, termination, and testing of structured network cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a copper and fiber optic) between servers, patch panels, switches, and racks
• Dressing, labeling, and management of network cabling in accordance with industry (TIA/EIA) standards
• Troubleshooting and resolution of cabling and physical-layer connectivity issues, including testing and certifying cable runs and replacing faulty components
• Troubleshooting and resolution of failed hard drives and failed DIMM's within server nodes
• Installation of new SSD and NVME hard drives into existing servers
• Troubleshooting and resolution of console connectivity issues
• Troubleshooting and resolution of all power supply and RDU (power strip) related issues
• Troubleshooting and resolution of all tier 1 server hardware break fix issues
• Respond to all system problems on a 24x7 basis and take part in on-call rotation
• Assist Data Center Technicians in OS level troubleshooting and network troubleshooting
• Process (identify, tag, and prepare) all server nodes ready for decommissioning

Requirements:

• 2 years in a Data Center Engineering Role
• 2 years Linux troubleshooting experience
• 2 years server hardware troubleshooting experience

Desired skills:

• Experience with structured network cabling installation, termination, and testing (copper and fiber)
• Experience with network configuration and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with server hardware components and troubleshooting
• A plus certification
• Structured cabling and cable management
• Communication and Problem-solving
• Attention to detail

Pay range: $25.30 - $35.42 per hour
