Data Migration Specialist

What this person does

Owns migration of the legacy licensing and customer dataset from Oracle into Dataverse. The legacy source is catalogued across roughly 776 tables and the priced scope is the full dataset including history, not only active records. Runs profiling, source to target mapping, two mock migrations and one production migration, with validation and reconciliation.

Must have

•      Three or more years of data migration into Dataverse or Dynamics 365, as the person who owned the migration rather than a supporting analyst

•      Strong SQL, with Oracle source experience specifically, including PL/SQL and reading an undocumented legacy schema

•      ETL tooling: Azure Data Factory, SSIS with KingswaySoft, Dataverse dataflows or equivalent, plus the Dataverse bulk APIs

•      Data profiling and quality assessment on a poorly documented legacy system

•      Source to target mapping and transformation rule documentation that a client signed off

•      Has executed mock or trial migrations followed by a production cutover migration

•      Reconciliation and validation reporting: record counts, control totals, exception reports and sign-off evidence

•      Migration of historical and transactional records, not only master data

Nice to have

•      Migration of licence, permit, case or registration history under regulatory retention requirements

•      FileMaker or other secondary legacy source experience

•      Large-volume migration performance tuning and batching

•      Public sector data migration with audit requirements

Certifications to look for

•      PL-400 Power Platform Developer or PL-200

•      DP-203 Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure

•      DP-300, or an Oracle certification, is a plus

•      Vendor tool certifications such as KingswaySoft are a plus
