SCLM (Software Configuration and Library Manager) administrator

Job Description.

• SCLM Core Knowledge
• Full understanding of SCLM functions: creating/configuring datasets and libraries, defining project definitions (PROJDEFS), managing hierarchy, and controlling access via RACF or equivalent
• Ability to perform source movement, compile, bind, and deploy using SCLM codes (parmlibs, sortlib, copybooks, programs)
• Experience with move, compile, bind, and deploy JCL in SCLM, including backup, staging, and backout procedures
• Mainframe Data Set & ISPF Skills
• Proficiency in ISPF panels for SCLM operations.
• Experience creating/maintaining VSAM clusters, partitioned data sets, and related accounting data sets
• Knowledge of JCL, compile utilities, and mainframe build processes for Cobol, CSP, CICS/DB2, VSAM/DB2, Easytrieve, etc.
• Security & Access Control
• RACF (or equivalent) authority management for SCLM‑controlled data sets
• Understanding of read/update permissions for developers, build coordinators, and administrators.
• Operational & Problem‑Solving
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in SCLM environments
• Implementing and supporting SCLM upgrades, including post‑upgrade training and support
• Proactive maintenance and configuration tuning.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Creating installation/configuration docs, library code mappings, and new library code add‑ons  
• Developing ad‑hoc and scheduled reports for move requests, production moves, and other metrics
