Job Title: Senior CAD Systems & Design Process Lead

Location: Manitowoc, WI.

Duration: Long term Contract

This role is to lead the implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of its CAD design environment and engineering workflows. This role is responsible for establishing robust CAD processes, improving design productivity, and enabling seamless collaboration across engineering, supply chain, operations, and quality teams.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on CAD expert and process leader with deep experience in design systems, configuration management, and cross-functional integration within complex engineered products.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Systems & Process Leadership

• Lead the implementation of a standardized CAD design process across engineering teams.
• Define, document, and enforce CAD standards, best practices, and governance.
• Act as the primary technical POC for CAD systems, methodologies, and workflows.

CAD Infrastructure & Configuration

• Establish and maintain standard part libraries for commodity and repeat-use components.
• Design and implement CAD file structures, naming conventions, and version control, aligned with Burger Boat’s engineering framework.
• Ensure effective configuration management and design data integrity.

Productivity & Optimization

• Identify and implement CAD productivity improvements, including templates, automation, and reusable design assets.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using engineering KPIs and metrics.

Software & Systems Management

• Oversee CAD software administration, including installations, updates, and compatibility management.
• Evaluate future CAD tools, plugins, and integrations as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Streamline information flow between Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality teams.
• Ensure CAD outputs support downstream manufacturing, procurement, and quality processes.

Training & Enablement

• Develop and deliver training, user guidelines, and documentation for CAD users.
• Mentor engineers and designers on CAD best practices and process adherence.
• Act as a change agent to drive adoption of new tools and workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in CAD systems, design process management, or engineering tools leadership.
• Strong expertise with AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Working experience on Rhino software will be added advantageous
• Proven experience establishing CAD standards, libraries, and enterprise design workflows.
• Solid understanding of engineering change management, configuration control, and documentation practices.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
• Exposure to PLM/PDM systems and their integration with CAD tools.
