The Role:

The Front Office Quality Assurance & Suitability Team Manageris part of the First-Line that helps ensure clients receive good outcomes and portfolios are managed in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. This area focuses on suitability, advice and portfolio-related risk across Discretionary, Advisory and Wealth Planning Services.

The Front Office Quality Assurance & Suitability Team Manager, will play a critical role in supporting the team’s overall objectives and ensuring that good client outcomes are being achieved. Responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of the team’s monitoring plan, line-management responsibility for the Quality Assurance / Suitability Risk & Control team.

Plan and coordinate risk-based monitoring for Front Office advice-based activity, within the framework and monitoring plan. Balance scheduled work and allocate work to Officers and provide technical direction, quality assurance, feedback, coaching and line management.

Personally review complex or higher-risk discretionary, advisory and wealth planning cases – with collaborative support from other business areas when required.

The Front Office Quality Assurance & Suitability Team Managerwill assess individual findings and recurring themes for potential client harm and control weaknesses. Agree and track proportionate remedial actions within delegated authority and verify their completion. Coordinate investigations into any potential suitability issues and breaches of client mandates.

The Front Office Quality Assurance & Suitability Team Managerwill produce and analyse MI and KPIs covering monitoring results, competence indicators, adherence to requirements and client outcomes; recommend changes based on the evidence.

The Front Office Quality Assurance & Suitability Team Managerdraft suitability analysis and updates for senior management, Board and Committee reporting for the Head’s review.

The Front Office Risk & Control Manager will provide practical guidance and constructive challenge to Investment Managers and Wealth Planners for their client advice or portfolio decisions. Work with Risk & Compliance regarding training and competence arrangements.

The Candidate

5 years + experience in Front Office Quality Assurance / Risk & Control / Business Assurance within a retail discretionary or advisory investment environment, including practical suitability assessment or monitoring.

Team Management / Team Leadership experience - supervising, coaching others’ work, including formal line-management experience and assessing advice.

Strong working knowledge of applicable FCA investment suitability and Conduct of Business requirements for discretionary, advisory and wealth planning activities.

Experience reviewing complex cases, assessing potential client harm and identifying proportionate remedial action.

Good understanding of clients’ investment needs, portfolio risk, fixed income, equities and cash instruments.
