Job Description

Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer

Location: Heywood

Salary: £42,000-£44,000 DOE

Benefits: Overtime, Bonus Scheme, Healthcare, Pension, Life Assurance & more

Hours: Monday-Friday

An established and highly respected global manufacturer is seeking a mechanically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its flagship operation in Heywood. This is an excellent opportunity to work with advanced production equipment at a site that continues to invest heavily in automation, engineering excellence, and innovative technologies.

Role Overview

  • Deliver planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities to optimise equipment performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall reliability
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve a variety of mechanical faults while assisting with electrical maintenance tasks where necessary
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, production personnel, and key stakeholders to maintain efficient site operations
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures while championing a strong safety-first culture across the site
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and support initiatives that enhance operational performance
  • Play an active role in engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and site improvement programmes

Skills & Experience Required

  • Apprentice trained or time-served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with multi-skilled experience
  • Background within Food, FMCG, Packaging, Manufacturing, or another fast-moving production environment would be highly advantageous
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding expertise covering conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, and associated machinery
  • Exposure to basic electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis would be beneficial
  • Able to thrive within a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment
