Senior Estimator – Federal Construction

 

Responsible for leading the estimating department and managing bids for federal construction projects ranging from $3M–$50M. The role includes preparing accurate cost estimates, securing subcontractor pricing, and mentoring other estimators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead estimating and bidding for federal construction projects.

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope of work.

• Perform quantity take-offs and evaluate subcontractor pricing.

• Solicit and negotiate competitive subcontractor proposals.

• Identify project risks, costs, and potential budget issues.

• Coordinate with project teams to finalize estimates and budgets.

• Attend pre-bid site visits and prepare accurate proposals.

• Support project handoff after contract award.

• Mentor, train, and review the work of other estimators.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 10 years of construction estimating experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 5–10+ years of experience estimating Federal Government construction projects.

• Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, DOD, DHS, VA, or GSA projects preferred.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.

• Experience with design-build and design-bid-build projects.

• Proficiency in SAM, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, and estimating software.

• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

• Healthcare construction estimating experience is a plus.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

• Must pass a background check for access to U.S. military installations.
