Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead and support the technical assistance intake and application process for school bus fleet operators.
  • Review and approve applications including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for technical assistance.
  • Support and manage all aspects of technical assistance projects including technical review (specifically on validity of route analysis, charging plan development, and site planning), client engagement, and progress/budget tracking.
  • Engage with utilities to ensure that school districts and bus fleet operators are engaging with the utilities as needed and required by project SOWs.
  • Support broad engagement with schools and school bus fleets to inform them about the opportunities for school bus electrification.
  • Track, document, and report on projects as needed, including number of districts, stage of projects, number of vehicles, progress on utility engagement.
  • Extract data from reports and input into NYSERDA trackers.
  • Support the development and launch of a post-EP offering for school districts and school bus contractors.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the key outcomes for the Clean Transportation Team.

To be considered for this position, you should have:
Required Skills:
  • Strong project management skills to be able to oversee many projects at the same time.
  • Ability to competently and confidently interact with outside stakeholders, including fleets, school districts, school bus operators, consultants, charging station hosts, and utilities.
  • Strong IT system fluency or ability to learn systems quickly.
  • Ability to stay organized and follow/set processes for managing many projects is essential.
  • Ability to lead independent work processes and/or support development of new offerings.
  • Experience with utility engagement, vehicle fleet operations, and/or school district operations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of clean transportation, electric vehicles, and electric vehicle charging is preferred.
  • Understanding of EVs and EV infrastructure is preferred.
  • Previous experience developing and/or reviewing fleet electrification plans, concept-level site plans, and one-line diagrams for EV charging sites is strongly preferred.
  • Background in civil or electrical engineering and/or transportation or urban planning is preferred.
Education, Certifications, Degree requirements:
  • Bachelors degree preferred, equivalent industry experience acceptable

  • 7-10 years

  • Has well developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to a program area.
  • Develops/formulates Deployment issues, problems and needs in at least one technical area.
  • Has acknowledged expertise at conceptual level of technical skills and knowledge in at least one program area.
  • Has basic understanding of State energy/environmental economic development issues.

Creativity in Project & Program Development:
  • Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction.
  • Develops new projects and co-funding sources with own initiative.
  • Carried out development of several projects through competitive solicitation phase that may or may not result from own initiative.
  • Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area.

  • Has demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of on going projects with no supervision.
  • Is able to prioritize workload with other responsibilities.
