Role Description This is a remote, contract Technical Writer role focused on creating high-quality learning and reference materials for refinery offsite operations and related MCOR concepts. The Technical Writer will research complex technical topics, collaborate with subject matter experts, and translate technical information into clear, structured content such as course modules, guides, manuals, and job aids. Daily tasks include outlining and drafting lessons, developing visual aids or diagrams in coordination with instructional designers, revising content based on feedback, and ensuring consistency in terminology and style across all materials. The role also involves maintaining documentation standards, updating existing content to reflect industry changes, and aligning all deliverables with OMS eLearning Academy's pedagogical and quality guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in clear, accessible language.
- Experience creating training materials, eLearning content, or instructional documentation, preferably in an industrial or engineering context.
- Ability to conduct thorough research and work effectively with subject matter experts in refinery or downstream operations.
- Proficiency with common documentation and content tools (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace; familiarity with LMS or eLearning authoring tools is a plus).
- Understanding of process industries, refinery operations, or MCOR-related workflows is highly beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills for managing multiple projects and deadlines in a remote setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a commitment to inclusive, gender-neutral language.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
