Cloud Solutions Engineer V (AI/Cloud SME)

Location: Columbus, OH/Dallas, TX (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (3+ Months)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Solutions Engineer V (AI/Cloud SME) to support strategic Commercial Operations initiatives focused on building scalable AI solutions and accelerating enterprise adoption of Generative AI technologies.

In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI-enabled applications and intelligent agents on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). You will work closely with architecture, governance, cloud engineering, and innovation teams to build secure, compliant, and scalable solutions in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring expertise in AI development, cloud-native architectures, API integrations, prompt engineering, and event-driven systems.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications, APIs, and automation solutions from concept to production
• Build and maintain intelligent AI agents and agentic workflows
• Develop prompt engineering strategies, evaluation frameworks, and reusable AI components
• Create scalable backend services and enterprise integrations
• Design and implement event-driven architectures using cloud-native technologies
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable deployments
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise platforms while adhering to security and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative business solutions
• Establish scalable operational support models for AI-enabled services
• Drive rapid prototyping and translate ideas into reusable production-ready solutions

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Prompt Engineering and AI Model Integration
• Hands-on experience developing and testing Agentic AI solutions
• API development, integration, and microservices architecture expertise
• Cloud engineering experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run); Azure and AWS experience is also valued
• Experience building event-driven architectures utilizing Pub/Sub or similar technologies
• CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages:
• Python
• Java
• JavaScript

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field
• 8-12 years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven experience designing and delivering scalable cloud-based applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong full-stack development experience (Backend, APIs, and User Interfaces)
• Experience building and deploying AI-enabled applications in enterprise environments
• Expertise with Google Cloud Platform services such as Vertex AI, Cloud Run, and related cloud-native technologies
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, cloud deployments, and DevOps practices
• Ability to work independently and thrive in fast-paced, agile environments
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
