Senior Cloud Architect

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Architect to join a leading public sector client in New York. This role is focused on defining and implementing enterprise cloud architecture, governance, standards, and best practices across AWS and Azure environments. The ideal candidate will partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to design secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions while providing architectural guidance to engineering teams.

The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud platforms, hybrid cloud architecture, cloud governance, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud security, networking, and enterprise migration strategies. Experience with on-premises infrastructure integration and multi-cloud environments is essential.

Required Qualifications

• 6–10 years of hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• 2–4 years of experience with Microsoft Azure
• Strong experience designing enterprise cloud architectures and governance frameworks
• Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises to cloud integration
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, cloud security, DevOps, and cloud operations
• Experience documenting architecture using Microsoft Visio
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Certifications:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (Strongly Preferred)
• Microsoft Azure Certification (Preferred)
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) is a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-optimized cloud architectures aligned with business and security requirements.
• Develop cloud governance frameworks, architecture standards, implementation guidelines, and best practices.
• Assess applications for cloud readiness and develop migration roadmaps.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, finance, procurement, and business teams.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for AWS and Azure cloud implementations.
• Support hybrid and multi-cloud environments while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, networking, and performance-related issues.
• Develop architecture documentation, technical standards, and solution diagrams.
