Job Description

GXO Logistics is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement and optimize automation solutions across high-volume transportation and warehousing operations. In this role, you will configure and program PLCs, HMIs and robotics, integrate conveyors and sortation with warehouse management systems, and use data to drive throughput, accuracy and safety improvements. You'll lead commissioning, troubleshoot complex controls issues, document standards and collaborate with operations, IT and safety teams. Responsibilities

  • Design and configure automation, controls and robotics solutions for warehouse and transportation operations
  • Program, test and maintain PLCs, HMIs, robotics and related control systems
  • Integrate conveyors, sortation and automation with Warehouse Management Systems and other IT platforms
  • Lead installation, commissioning and acceptance testing of new automation projects
  • Monitor performance data to optimize throughput, accuracy, uptime and safety
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and controls issues in live operations
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards and change controls
  • Collaborate with operations, IT, safety and vendors to deliver projects on time and within scope
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities using data and lean methods
  • Train maintenance and operations teams on automation systems and best practices
