AI Engineer

We're working with an organisation that is investing heavily in AI and automation and is looking for an AI Engineer to join a growing team. This is an opportunity to work on projects that move beyond experimentation, taking AI solutions from proof of concept into production and delivering measurable business impact.
This role would suit someone with a software engineering background who has started building experience with AI technologies and wants to accelerate their development within a supportive engineering environment.
The Role
As an AI Engineer, you'll work across the full solution life cycle, helping to design, build and deploy AI-powered applications whilst ensuring the underlying integrations, data and processes are robust and scalable.

You'll be involved in:

• Building AI-enabled solutions such as conversational assistants, workflow automation and intelligent document processing
• Developing applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agent-based approaches
• Taking solutions from prototype through to deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement
• Building and maintaining APIs, integrations and data pipelines that support AI applications
• Working closely with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions
• Supporting user testing, rollout and adoption of new AI capabilities
• Contributing to engineering standards, testing, documentation and CI/CD practices

What We're Looking For
Essential Experience

• Experience in software engineering, application development, APIs, integrations or data pipelines
• Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language
• Exposure to Large Language Models, prompting, model APIs or AI applications through commercial work, study or personal projects
• Experience working with SQL and real-world data
• Experience deploying solutions into cloud environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies quickly

Desirable Experience

• Agentic AI or AI agent frameworks
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Workflow automation platforms
• AI evaluation, monitoring or observability
• Experience working within regulated environments
• Agile delivery experience
