Ai Developer

This contract role focuses on designing and delivering advanced AI solutions for an asset management end client. You will work as an AI Software Engineer, creating production-ready intelligent applications and AI agents that solve complex business and operational challenges. The position involves end-to-end engineering of AI-enabled systems, from solution design and model selection through to deployment, testing and ongoing support, within a hybrid working arrangement based in central London and remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production-ready AI solutions that address complex business and operational challenges in the asset management domain.
• Build intelligent applications and AI agents that go beyond basic AI bots, integrating advanced AI capabilities into existing applications, platforms and business processes.
• Evaluate and implement appropriate AI models, frameworks, tools and supporting technologies to meet specific business requirements.
• Design AI agents capable of using tools, accessing enterprise data and completing multi-step tasks in a reliable and scalable manner.
• Develop robust APIs, services and reusable software components to support the deployment and integration of AI solutions.
• Apply strong software engineering principles across solution design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
• Promote best practice across AI development, including responsible AI, security, governance, testing, monitoring and documentation.
• Support the selection and adoption of AI tooling across the client's technology environment, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
• Work closely with technology, data, architecture, product and business stakeholders to identify, refine and prioritise suitable AI use cases.
• Produce clear technical designs, solution documentation and development standards for AI-enabled applications.
• Test and evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, performance and measurable business value.
• Support the transition of AI solutions from proof of concept through to scalable production deployment.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to help improve AI engineering capability across the wider client team.
• Keep abreast of developments in generative AI, large language models, AI agents and supporting engineering frameworks, and apply relevant innovations to client solutions.

• Proven experience in designing and developing AI solutions that solve complex business and operational problems.
• Strong software engineering skills, covering solution design, development, testing, deployment and support.
• Hands-on programming experience with Python for AI and backend development.
• experience with SQL for working with structured data and integrating data sources into AI solutions.
• Proficiency in JavaScript for building or integrating AI capabilities within web-based applications.
• Practical understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, including AI models, frameworks and tools.
• experience in systems engineering, with the ability to design and integrate components within a broader technology environment.
• experience working in Agile delivery environments, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

The hybrid working model combines time on a modern central London client site with remote work, supporting flexibility and a balanced working pattern.

Work Environment

This is a 6-month contract role assessed as inside IR35, delivered in a hybrid working model with 2–3 days per week on client site in central London and the remaining time working remotely. You will operate within an Agile environment, collaborating with technology, data, architecture, product and business teams. The work involves modern AI and software engineering tools and frameworks, including Python, SQL and JavaScript, alongside enterprise systems and AI platforms. The setting is a professional consultancy and financial services environment, focused on high standards of delivery, documentation and governance.
