DESKTOP DEPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Desktop Deployment Specialist is responsible for imaging, configuring, deploying, and supporting desktop and laptop systems for employees across the organization. This role serves as the primary point of contact during new hire onboarding and device refresh initiatives, ensuring users receive a fully configured and functional workstation.

 

The ideal candidate combines strong customer service skills with hands-on IT experience, including Windows support, application installation, device deployment, and basic networking troubleshooting. This position works closely with infrastructure, security, and desktop support teams to deliver a positive onboarding experience while maintaining organizational standards and security requirements.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Desktop Imaging & Deployment

  • Image and configure Windows desktop and laptop devices utilizing enterprise deployment tools.
  • Validate system configuration, software installation, and security requirements prior to deployment.
  • Perform new hire workstation deployments and device refreshes.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure devices are fully operational before delivery.
  • Track and document deployed assets throughout their lifecycle.

 

User Onboarding & Support

  • Assist employees during workstation setup and first-day onboarding.
  • Configure MFA, VPN access, and required business applications.
  • Provide hands-on support during deployment and resolve basic technical issues.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while supporting users across multiple business departments.

 

Application Installation & Configuration

  • Install and configure standard and department-specific software packages.
  • Perform post-installation configuration and testing with end users.
  • Coordinate with internal IT teams when application issues are identified.
  • Maintain awareness of approved software standards and deployment procedures.

 

Troubleshooting & Documentation

  • Troubleshoot imaging, deployment, connectivity, and workstation-related issues.
  • Create and update ticket records within ServiceNow or a similar ticketing system.
  • Document recurring issues, resolutions, and deployment procedures.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.

 

Asset & Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate hardware inventory records.
  • Support device refresh and replacement programs.
  • Track hardware movement and update asset management systems accordingly.
  • Assist with inventory audits and equipment lifecycle management.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 2+ years of experience in desktop support, deployment, imaging, or workstation administration.
  • Experience supporting Windows desktop environments.
  • Knowledge of device imaging and software deployment processes.
  • Experience installing and supporting business applications.
  • Familiarity with VPN technologies and multi-factor authentication.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing and VLANs.
  • Experience working within a ticketing system.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience with ManageEngine Endpoint Central, SCCM, Intune, or similar deployment tools.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms.
  • Exposure to Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience supporting hardware refresh programs.
  • Knowledge of inventory and asset management processes.
