About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated English Teacher to play a key role in shaping and developing English and literacy provision across Key Stages 4 and 5. Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher for Curriculum and Learning, you will deliver high-quality teaching that enables students with SEMH needs to achieve strong academic outcomes, develop confidence in communication and literacy, and prepare for their next steps in education, employment and life.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the English curriculum, helping to create an engaging, inclusive and personalised learning experience that meets the needs of every student. While English will be your primary subject area, you may also be asked to support the delivery of other curriculum subjects where required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging and effective English lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5.
  • Leading the development of English and literacy provision, with a positive impact across the whole school.
  • Planning and delivering a curriculum that enables all students to achieve their full potential.
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Working collaboratively with the therapy team and wider staff to provide a joined-up, multidisciplinary approach to student support.
  • Creating a positive learning environment that promotes engagement, achievement and independence.
  • Using effective behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement to support student success.
  • Monitoring, assessing and tracking student progress, using data to inform teaching and drive improvement.
  • Supporting students to develop essential literacy, communication, study and employability skills.
  • Working closely with colleagues, parents, carers and external professionals to maximise outcomes for students.
  • Contributing to curriculum planning, target setting and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Participating fully in professional development, training and wider school initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, build resilience and achieve meaningful qualifications and outcomes in a supportive and ambitious school environment.

Required: UK QTS Qualification and UK Driving Licence
