About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and testing telecommunications cables, lines and associated infrastructure across residential, commercial and telecommunications network projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground telecommunications cables and lines.
• Install and maintain telecommunications poles, cable supports, conduits and associated infrastructure.
• Perform cable hauling, routing, jointing and termination activities.
• Inspect telecommunications lines and identify cable faults or network issues.
• Conduct cable testing, fault identification and troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, network plans and installation specifications.
• Operate telecommunications installation equipment, tools and testing instruments.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs to telecommunications infrastructure.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian telecommunications standards, workplace health and safety requirements and project specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance and repair activities.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in telecommunications cable installation, maintenance or repairs.
• Experience working with overhead and underground telecommunications infrastructure.
• Knowledge of cable jointing, termination, testing and fault-finding techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and network plans.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
