As CISO, you'll define and drive the information security vision across Independent Reserve. You'll lead our security engineering, governance, and risk management functions, ensuring that every system, process, and person operates with security at its core.

This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in high stakes, fast evolving environments and wants to shape the future of security in the digital asset economy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the InfoSec function - set the strategy, policies, and frameworks that safeguard our people, clients, and systems
• Build and evolve our defences - oversee the operation and continuous improvement of our security technologies (SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, incident response)
• Own cyber resilience - ensure Independent Reserve can detect, respond to, and recover from threats quickly and effectively
• Drive regulatory excellence - maintain compliance with ISO 27001, SOC, NIST, CIS, and all regional regulations (AUSTRAC, MAS, VARA)
• Champion security culture - promote awareness, training, and proactive defence across all teams
• Advise leadership and the Board - provide expert insight into emerging risks, metrics, and the global threat landscape
• Vendor Management - in collaboration with the Procurement team, identify, select and oversee external vendors, optimising cost and delivery

Experience and skills we are looking for

• 10+ years' experience in IT or information security, ideally with leadership exposure
• Strong background in operational security (SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, incident response)
• Deep understanding of security governance, frameworks, and risk management principles (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS). Proven ability to align security strategy with business objectives in regulated environments
• Familiarity with SOC, SecOps, or governance and risk functions
• Knowledge of crypto markets or trading infrastructure will be a plus
• Certifications such as CISSP or CISM is good to have but not a must
