They are seeking a Principal AI Software Developer to contribute to the modernization of a vital national air traffic management platform for the United Kingdom, working on real-time, safety-critical systems.

The Role

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems supporting air traffic operations.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance the software development lifecycle, including coding, refactoring, debugging, and test generation.
• Apply AI responsibly across all phases of development, from requirements analysis to code review.
• Analyze complex system requirements and translate them into efficient, maintainable software designs.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for development, testing, and production environments.
• Champion code quality, reusability, traceability, and cross-team collaboration.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) for code generation, refactoring, debugging, and test creation.
• Familiarity with large language model platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) and experience in prompt design and output validation.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and experience developing real-time, multi-threaded systems.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Ada, and experience with Linux environments, low-level communication protocols, and hardware/complex system integration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; US citizenship is required.
