Job Description

Role: IT Support Technician –W2 Only- Candidate must be SC resident

Location: Columbia, SC

Duration: 2 Months with likely possibility of extensions

 

 

Additional details: Travel may require. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to provide IT support for ceremonies, events, and other special activities.

Job Summary

IRG Clients iseeking an IT Support Specialist to provide frontline technical support to faculty, staff, and students. The position will troubleshoot computers, software, peripherals, network connectivity, classroom technology, audiovisual equipment, and other common technology issues.

The role will also support workstation setup, device deployment, employee onboarding/offboarding, classroom and meeting-room technology, and routine IT maintenance. The ideal candidate has basic IT knowledge, strong troubleshooting and customer-service skills, and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person, remote, and service-request-based technical support.
  • Troubleshoot Windows and macOS computers, software, user accounts, printers, peripherals, and connectivity issues.
  • Set up and deploy computers, workstations, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Install approved software and perform routine operating system and software updates.
  • Support employee onboarding, offboarding, office moves, equipment replacements, and technology refreshes.
  • Provide basic support for classroom, conference-room, AV, and video-conferencing technologies.
  • Troubleshoot displays, projectors, microphones, cameras, speakers, presentation equipment, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and similar technologies.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and ensure classrooms and meeting spaces are ready for use.
  • Assist with device enrollment, configuration, inventory, and equipment tracking.
  • Work with tools such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf, and Active Directory as assigned.
  • Document technical issues, solutions, and work performed.
  • Escalate complex issues requiring advanced troubleshooting or administrative access.
  • Follow established IT procedures and documentation.
  • Assist with IT projects, equipment deployments, and other technology-related activities.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated knowledge or experience supporting computers, technology, or end users.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common computer and technology problems.
  • Familiarity with Windows environments

Preferred Skills:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Windows 10/11, macOS, Microsoft 365, networking concepts, Active Directory, Intune, Jamf, mobile devices, classroom or audiovisual technology, Teams, Zoom
