Job Description

We have recently been instructed by a leading global investment manager with a strong track record in active, fundamental investing. They are looking to hire a thematic global income analyst to join their established investment team in London.

The role offers the opportunity to take a broad, global approach to equity investing, combining thematic research with detailed bottom-up fundamental analysis to identify high-quality businesses capable of delivering sustainable and growing income over the long term.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced portfolio managers and investors, contributing across the investment process from idea generation and company research through to portfolio construction and ongoing monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct fundamental research across global equities, with broad exposure across sectors and geographies.
  2. Identify investment opportunities through a combination of top-down thematic research and bottom-up stock selection.
  3. Build detailed financial models and undertake valuation analysis to support investment theses.
  4. Assess company fundamentals, earnings, cash generation, capital allocation and dividend sustainability.
  5. Develop differentiated investment ideas and communicate recommendations clearly to portfolio managers.
  6. Conduct primary research through direct engagement with company management and industry experts.
  7. Contribute to portfolio construction, position sizing and ongoing portfolio management.
  8. Monitor existing holdings and update investment views as company fundamentals, valuations and market conditions evolve.
  9. Develop an understanding of structural and secular themes and translate these into actionable investment opportunities.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have approximately ~2–6 years' relevant investment experience within a fundamental equity environment, although the quality and relevance of experience will be prioritised over a strict number of years.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  1. Strong experience in bottom-up fundamental equity research.
  2. A broad, global and generalist investment approach, rather than narrow sector specialisation.
  3. The ability to combine thematic thinking with detailed company-level analysis.
  4. Strong financial modelling and valuation skills.
  5. A proven ability to generate original and differentiated investment ideas.
  6. An understanding of income investing, including dividend sustainability, cash generation and long-term income growth.
  7. Experience engaging with company management and conducting primary research.
  8. Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate investment views effectively.
  9. Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to research companies across unfamiliar sectors and markets.

Candidates from long-only , long/short , thematic or broader fundamental equity teams are likely to be well suited to the opportunity and are strongly encouraged to apply.

This role would particularly suit an investor who enjoys breadth, idea generation and developing differentiated views, with the flexibility to move between structural themes and detailed bottom-up company research.
