Job Description

Digital Catapult is looking for a confident, enthusiastic hands-on Head of Facilities to lead the safe, smooth and professional operation of our workplaces across the UK. This is a high-impact role for someone who loves creating brilliant workplace experiences, leading service-focused teams and keeping complex office environments running at their best.

You’ll take ownership of front of house, office services, space planning, security, cleaning, maintenance, health and safety, and business continuity support — making sure our spaces are welcoming, compliant and set up for modern hybrid working. You’ll also help shape what our future workspace needs to look like as Digital Catapult continues to grow.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (Duties)

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of Digital Catapult’s office facilities across multiple UK locations, ensuring colleagues, visitors and partners have an excellent workplace experience.
  • Manage front of house, reception, desk and meeting room provision, kitchens, social spaces, storage, security, cleaning, maintenance, fire safety and health and safety.
  • Lead, coach and develop a facilities team of around four people, building a professional, responsive and customer-service-led culture.
  • Own key supplier, contractor and landlord relationships, making sure services are high quality, cost effective and delivered to agreed standards.
  • Manage budgets, identify savings and use reporting and analysis to drive better decisions.
  • Lead practical health and safety activity, including training needs, equipment, fire wardens, first aiders, incident reporting and business-wide communications.
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of technical facilities and laboratories by working closely with technical teams and providing facilities expertise.
  • Help plan future workspace requirements, from improving existing sites to supporting new office space projects and transitions into operational delivery.
  • Play an active role in business continuity planning and emergency response, ensuring our offices can operate safely and effectively when it matters most.
  • A great track record of facilities management experience in a busy office environment, ideally across multiple sites and including events or out-of-hours operational support.
  • Experience of leading facilities teams, supporting and developing people and setting high standards for service delivery.
  • Excellent supplier and contractor management experience, including sourcing services, managing contracts and holding partners to account.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation for office environments, with practical experience managing incidents and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Relevant health and safety training such as first aid, fire training, IOSH or NEBOSH; IWFM qualifications would be a bonus.
  • Confidence managing budgets, analysing data and using Excel to produce clear reports and recommendations.
  • A calm, practical and discreet approach, with the judgement to balance colleague experience, compliance, cost and operational risk.
  • Willingness to work primarily onsite, with an expectation of at least four days per week in the office, and to travel across the UK when required.

Deadline for Applications: 30th September 2026 with an estimated start date of mid-November 2026.

Salary: £60,000 – £68,000 depending on skills and experience and office location
