Job Description

Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of a Class A commercial property. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will help lead daily operations of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems, ensuring tenant comfort and uptime. You will coordinate preventive maintenance, supervise and mentor technicians, manage contractors, and support capital and sustainability projects. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, a focus on safety and compliance, and a commitment to client service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Engineer in daily operation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems for commercial properties.
  • Lead and mentor engineering and maintenance staff; assign work orders, review quality, and ensure adherence to JLL and client standards.
  • Implement and track preventive maintenance programs using CMMS to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs, inspections, and capital projects; verify scope, safety, and quality of work.
  • Monitor energy use and building performance; recommend and implement efficiency and sustainability improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards; maintain documentation and readiness for audits and inspections.
  • Assist with budgeting, capital planning, and cost control for building operations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide timely response to tenant service requests and emergencies, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
