Take technical ownership of the agency-built website after launch, maintain its performance and security, and progressively expand the site to support campaigns, customer journeys, lead generation, and business growth.
We are seeking a hands-on Web Developer & Marketing Technology Specialist to join the Marketing function. An external agency will design and build the initial website. Following launch and handover, this role will become the internal technical owner, responsible for day-to-day maintenance, issue resolution, and the continued development of the website as the organisation grows.
This individual will build new pages, templates, landing pages, and functionality; manage the technical WordPress environment; and support integrations with HubSpot and the wider marketing technology stack. This is a delivery-focused individual contributor role that will work closely with Marketing, IT, external agencies, and technology partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the technical operation of the corporate website following agency handover, ensuring the platform remains reliable, secure, accessible, and scalable.
- Manage WordPress core, themes, plugins, hosting configurations, backups, security patches, and routine technical updates.
- Monitor site availability, performance, and Core Web Vitals; diagnose and resolve defects, broken functionality, and integration issues.
- Manage development, staging, and production environments, including testing, release management, and rollback procedures.
- Maintain technical documentation, access controls, configuration records, and website governance standards.
- Build and publish responsive landing pages, campaign pages, product and solution pages, forms, microsites, and reusable content components.
- Develop and enhance WordPress themes, templates, and custom functionality using clean, maintainable code.
- Convert approved designs and Figma files into accurate, responsive, and accessible web experiences.
- Extend the initial agency-built website over time, introducing new sections, user journeys, capabilities, and integrations based on business priorities.
- Test new functionality across devices and browsers and ensure releases meet quality, security, and performance standards.
- Support the technical integration of WordPress with HubSpot, Salesforce, analytics, and other approved marketing platforms.
- Build and maintain HubSpot forms, landing-page functionality, tracking, and campaign-related website components.
- Ensure accurate, secure data capture and reliable flow between website forms, HubSpot, and downstream systems.
- Troubleshoot APIs, scripts, tags, plugins, and third-party integrations in partnership with Marketing Operations and IT.
- Support the ongoing evolution of the marketing technology stack through configuration, testing, documentation, and technical recommendations.
- Implement technical SEO requirements, including metadata frameworks, structured URLs, XML sitemaps, redirects, schema, and indexation controls.
- Maintain Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and conversion tracking in partnership with Marketing Operations.
- Improve site speed, usability, accessibility, and conversion performance using data, testing, and user feedback.
- Support GDPR, cookie consent, privacy, security, and WCAG accessibility requirements across website experiences.
- Lead the technical handover from the website agency, including codebase, environments, credentials, templates, plugins, integrations, and documentation.
- Work with the agency on major enhancements where specialist capacity is required, while independently delivering routine maintenance and ongoing development.
- Translate marketing and business requirements into practical technical solutions, estimates, and delivery plans.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining business-critical WordPress websites.
- Strong front-end development skills in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with practical PHP and WordPress development experience.
- Experience building custom themes, page templates, reusable components, and responsive landing pages.
- Experience managing plugins, hosting environments, staging, deployment, version control, and website security.
- Experience with technical SEO, performance optimization, cross-browser testing, and accessibility standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with HubSpot Content Hub/CMS, forms, landing pages, templates, modules, or HubL, as well as experience integrating WordPress with HubSpot and Salesforce.
- Experience with Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and consent management platforms.
- Familiarity with Pantheon or comparable managed WordPress hosting, Advanced Custom Fields, and common security, SEO, and performance plugins.
- Previous experience working within a Marketing, Demand Generation, or Marketing Operations function.
Success Measures:
- Effective technical handover and stable ownership of the website after agency launch.
- Timely delivery of landing pages, campaign support, and prioritized website enhancements.
- Accurate lead capture, analytics, and MarTech integrations.
- Progressive expansion of the website without compromising maintainability, user experience, or performance.
