Job Description

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of systems analysis, design, development, and programming.
  • Knowledge of modern programming languages, with emphasis on Python and related web application frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing principles and services, with emphasis on Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of source control practices, including Git and pull-request-based collaboration.
  • Knowledge of modern AI-assisted software development workflows and tools.
  • Ability to compare and select AI models (for example, A/B testing two models on a task)
    Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of secure development practices and appropriate handling of confidential or regulated data, including security considerations specific to AI applications.
  • Work on the ongoing operations, modernization, enhancement, and extension of AI-enabled applications supporting the Department of Banking and other state agencies, including applications that handle regulated financial and examination data.
  • Perform hands-on technical development primarily using Python and modern web frameworks such as FastAPI.
  • Develop, deploy, maintain, and support application services using Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Service, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, and related Azure services.
  • Utilize Git-based source control, including standard branching, version control, and pull-request workflows for collaborative software development.
  • Work within an AI-assisted software development environment, using modern coding assistants as part of day-to-day activities such as writing, reviewing, debugging, and improving code.
  • Effectively direct and utilize AI coding tools while maintaining responsibility for the resulting code by reviewing, validating, debugging, and ensuring reliable production-ready output.
  • Collaborate closely with the Connecticut AI Lab, a centralized team within DAS responsible for supporting the design, development, and deployment of AI-enabled solutions across state agencies.
  • Work with the Connecticut AI Lab on applications supporting the Department of Banking, leveraging its architectural guidance, shared infrastructure, and engineering support to maintain and enhance AI-enabled applications.
