Senior Backend Engineer (Python / Security)

Lead system design, write high-quality code, and mentor engineers to build reliable, secure, and maintainable applications. You will drive technical craftsmanship, improve system observability, and enforce best practices in security and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document code, scripts, and technical processes following team standards.
• Design self-contained systems and lead the delivery of key features in existing architectures.
• Break complex system designs into smaller tasks that junior engineers can build and maintain.
• Perform root cause analysis on complex technical issues and define concrete steps to fix them.
• Build test suites and set up system instrumentation to meet strict latency and availability targets.
• Identify security risks, eliminate open vulnerabilities, and apply best practices to protect attack surfaces.
• Guide the team in observability, logging, and supportability to spot system failures early.
• Coach and formally mentor team members to build their skills, code quality, and technical knowledge.
• Promote reusable components across projects and introduce modern approaches to existing problems.
• Lead agile delivery by prioritizing small work batches that deliver fast value.

Required Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience building large-scale, full-stack applications.
• 5+ years of experience with Python, including deep proficiency in FastAPI.
• 5+ years of experience developing RESTful web services.
• Direct experience with secrets management tools: HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or Azure Key Vault.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform and Vault.
• 3+ years of experience with Git, GitHub, and shell scripting across Linux and Windows environments.
• 3+ years of system design and open-source contribution experience.
• Strong proficiency in Azure cloud platform services.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD) principles.
• Deep experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL, ORM frameworks, and query performance tuning.
