Job Description

We are looking for an experienced API Developer / API Engineer with strong expertise in API design, API security, and Python development. The ideal candidate will design, develop, secure, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and integrations for enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable REST APIs and backend services.
Develop APIs using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
Define API standards, architecture, request/response structures, and error handling.
Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, API keys, and RBAC.
Apply authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, and other API security controls.
Develop and maintain API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger.
Integrate APIs with databases, cloud services, third-party applications, and enterprise systems.
Perform API testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and monitoring.
Collaborate with application, cloud, security, and DevOps teams.
Follow API governance, versioning, lifecycle management, and security best practices.
Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality, maintainable Python code.

Strong experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, OpenID Connect, API authentication and authorization.
Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI.
Understanding of API gateways, rate limiting, throttling, and API versioning.
Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
Good understanding of HTTP, JSON, REST principles, and web services.

Preferred Skills

Experience with API Gateway platforms such as Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or Kong.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging systems.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with automated API testing tools such as Postman or pytest.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of software/API development experience, with strong hands-on API development experience.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
