Job Description

The Role<br />Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business producing specialist, technically demanding products for a range of applications. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Design Applications Engineer to join their engineering team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of customer-specific engineering projects, working from the initial requirements through to design, development, build, testing and delivery. The role is varied and hands-on, combining project management, mechanical engineering, CAD and technical problem solving.

Key Responsibilities<br />• Manage customer-specific modifications and engineering projects from initial brief through to completion<br />• Develop and adapt existing designs to meet specific customer requirements<br />• Carry out integration and feasibility studies<br />• Manage project budgets, bills of materials and technical documentation<br />• Work closely with customers, sales and internal engineering teams to develop suitable technical solutions<br />• Support the certification and approval of designs where required<br />• Provide technical support to production and commercial teams<br />• Liaise with suppliers on technical and engineering matters<br />• Produce, maintain and manage detailed assembly and manufacturing drawings<br />• Support the build, testing and commissioning of projects<br />• Identify opportunities for product improvements and engineering development<br />• Provide hands-on technical support and problem solving throughout the manufacturing process<br />• Ensure projects are delivered to the required quality and technical standards Candidate Requirements<br />Degree-level engineering qualification preferred, or equivalent relevant experience<br />Minimum 5 years' experience within an Applications Engineer or similar engineering position<br />Advanced 3D CAD experience, ideally Siemens NX<br />Strong understanding of component and assembly modelling and technical drawing<br />Strong mechanical engineering knowledge<br />Experience working with mechanical systems<br />Good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes<br />Experience working with fabricated components in steel, aluminium and plastics<br />Knowledge of composite materials<br />Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills<br />Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and internal teams<br />Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects Benefits<br />Competitive Salary<br />Training and development opportunities<br />Varied and technically challenging engineering environment<br />Opportunity to work on bespoke engineering projects<br />Hands-on involvement from design through to manufacture and testing
