Job Description

Join our team as a Senior Network & Communications Engineer and support a Department of Defense customer by architecting and testing communication networks for special operations technology demonstrations. You will plan and run evaluations of tactical data links, SATCOM, and airborne networks in contested RF environments, ensure next-generation communications are proven before they reach the field.

FWI is expanding rapidly and has been recognized as a 2024, 2025 and 2026 Top Workplace, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment. **Position is contingent upon contract award** Work Schedule and Location: On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, standard business hours at MacDill AFB and nearby Tampa, FL offices. Travel to field test events to install and test communications equipment. Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of test and evaluation for advanced communication and network systems.
  • Architect, configure, and manage airborne and ground networks for demonstrations and assessments.
  • Serve as primary technical liaison for network integration with government program offices.
  • Analyze throughput, latency, and reliability in contested RF environments.
  • Provide expertise on tactical data links, SATCOM, and advanced networking protocols.
  • Manage installation and integration of communications equipment on platforms for test events.
  • Develop and present test reports and technical briefings to program leadership.

Qualifications Required

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Minimum 10 years of experience supporting DoD/SOF communication systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in network architecture, systems integration, and tactical communications
  • Proven ability to operate and configure network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Keysight)
  • Experience with tactical data links (e.g., Link 16) and SATCOM systems across various orbits (e.g., PLEO, LEO, GEO)
  • Familiarity with contested RF techniques and technologies Desired:
  • Experience with data pipeline concepts
  • Strong understanding of SOF tactical communications and network infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of small unmanned aerial system payloads and integration
