Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering in Test

Position Summary

Kaseya is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering in Test (SDET) to lead our quality engineering and test automation organization supporting endpoint management, device management, and enterprise SaaS platform solutions.

This leader will be responsible for managing SDET and automation engineering teams, driving quality strategy, defining test architecture, expanding automated validation capabilities, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and highly reliable software.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership with deep experience in software testing, automation frameworks, operating systems, endpoint technologies, and large-scale SaaS platforms. This role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of influencing engineering quality across the entire software development lifecycle while leveraging modern AI-powered development and test automation techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and manage teams of SDETs, automation engineers, and technical leads responsible for delivering high-quality software and platform capabilities.
• Build, mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent while fostering a culture of accountability, quality ownership, urgency, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, career development, and performance management activities across the quality engineering organization.
• Establish quality engineering best practices, standards, metrics, and operational excellence initiatives.

Quality Strategy & Engineering Execution

• Define and execute the organization's quality engineering vision, test automation roadmap, and validation strategy.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, Support, Operations, and Security teams to ensure successful delivery of roadmap initiatives.
• Drive engineering process improvements across Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation, release readiness, and quality governance.
• Create measurable quality objectives and reporting mechanisms to communicate risks, trends, coverage, and release readiness to senior leadership.

Test Automation & Platform Validation

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation frameworks supporting functional, integration, regression, performance, resiliency, and system-level validation.
• Oversee automated validation of endpoint agents, endpoint management workflows, patching, monitoring, remote actions, scripting, inventory collection, policy execution, and agent communications.
• Build reusable automation infrastructure capable of validating software across Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile environments.
• Drive large-scale automated regression testing strategies supporting enterprise endpoint management and SaaS platform releases.

Operating Systems & Endpoint Technologies

• Ensure validation of endpoint agent behavior across supported operating systems and major platform versions.
• Oversee testing strategies for OS upgrades, endpoint recovery scenarios, disconnected operations, self-healing capabilities, and device lifecycle management.
• Validate interoperability with operating system services, security frameworks, APIs, device management technologies, and endpoint security solutions.
• Support testing initiatives involving Microsoft Intune, Apple MDM, Android Enterprise, and Linux device management platforms.

Technical Leadership

• Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical planning to ensure solutions meet standards for security, scalability, reliability, observability, and maintainability.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify testability improvements and quality risks early in the development lifecycle.
• Drive root-cause analysis efforts for complex production issues and implement automated safeguards to prevent recurrence.
• Support troubleshooting efforts through log analysis, telemetry, debugging, endpoint diagnostics, and distributed system investigation.

AI-Powered Quality Engineering

• Champion the adoption of AI coding assistants and automation tools throughout the quality engineering lifecycle.
• Leverage AI technologies for test generation, code analysis, debugging, coverage expansion, and engineering productivity improvements.
• Establish best practices for validating AI-generated test assets and automation solutions.
• Drive continuous innovation in AI-assisted software quality practices across engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering, SDET, quality engineering, or automation engineering experience.
• 4+ years of experience managing software engineering, SDET, or QA automation teams.
• Strong experience building and scaling test automation frameworks and engineering validation platforms.
• Solid software development experience using C#, Java, Kotlin, or related programming languages.
• Deep understanding of at least one major operating system platform: Windows, Linux, or macOS.
• Strong knowledge of operating system internals including processes, services/daemons, filesystems, networking, security models, and privilege management.
• Experience supporting enterprise SaaS platforms, distributed systems, cloud-native applications, or endpoint management products.
• Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation, and release management.
• Proven experience partnering with cross-functional teams to drive successful software delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading quality engineering organizations supporting enterprise endpoint management, RMM, security, MDM, UEM, or device management platforms.
• Experience testing endpoint agents, systems software, device drivers, security software, or operating-system-level components.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, lab automation, large-scale automated testing environments, and device provisioning systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Apple MDM, Android Enterprise, Linux device management, or similar endpoint technologies.
• Experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, and operating system automation tools.
• Strong understanding of application security testing, performance testing, resiliency testing, and reliability engineering.
• Ability to understand deeply interconnected systems from a systems architecture perspective.
• Proven ability to translate business priorities and product roadmap objectives into scalable quality engineering execution plans.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
• Experience driving AI adoption within software development, software testing, and engineering productivity initiatives.
