Internship Opportunity: Athlete Brand & Social Marketing Intern

Position Overview:

The Familie is seeking a motivated and digitally savvy Athlete Brand & Social Marketing Intern to support the agency’s football and basketball athlete marketing efforts, with a focus on brand development, partnership opportunities, and social media growth.

 

This role is ideal for a student interested in athlete marketing and brand partnerships who also has a strong understanding of social media, digital culture, and audience growth. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting brand outreach and athlete marketing initiatives while also helping evaluate and strengthen clients’ social media presence.

 

The ideal candidate understands how an athlete’s social presence, content, audience, and engagement contribute to their overall brand and marketability and can bring both a marketing and social-first perspective to the team.

 

*Please note this is an unpaid internship, applicants MUST be eligible for class credit.*

 

Responsibilities:

Athlete Social Media & Brand Development

  • Support efforts to strengthen athlete social profiles and personal brands to increase overall marketability and better position clients for future brand partnership opportunities
  • Monitor and evaluate athlete social media presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other relevant channels
  • Assist with social media audits to identify strengths, opportunities, and areas for growth across athlete accounts
  • Track social media performance and assist with analytics reports covering engagement, reach, views, follower growth, and top-performing content
  • Research comparable athletes, creators, and brands to identify successful content strategies and best practices
  • Monitor social media trends, platform updates, emerging formats, and cultural moments relevant to athlete clients
  • Research and brainstorm social-first content ideas that align with each athlete’s personality, interests, audience, and overall personal brand
  • Assist with content planning and social media strategy to help build stronger, more consistent athlete profiles
  • Support day-to-day social media execution, including posting, tagging, resharing, content organization, and other account needs as assigned
  • Help identify opportunities to grow athlete audiences, strengthen engagement, and improve overall social presence
  • Assist with athlete positioning and identifying opportunities to strengthen clients’ overall personal brands
  • Conduct research on athlete marketing, social media, and digital trends that can help inform client strategy

Details:

Duration: 3 months, with flexible start and end dates based on academic calendar (Fall 2026)

Hours: Time commitment expectation of about 15-20 hours a week. Flexible schedule based on the intern's class schedule.

Compensation: Unpaid; MUST be eligible for academic credit

In-Office Requirement: Interns are expected to be onsite 2-3  days per week

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a university and continue to be enrolled for the duration of the internship
  • Strong interest in athlete marketing, brand partnerships, social media, and sports
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms, particularly Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Understanding of the football and basketball landscapes at the collegiate and/or professional level
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and key performance metrics such as engagement, reach, views, and follower growth
  • Strong research skills and ability to identify relevant brands, trends, and partnership opportunities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative and strategic thinker with an understanding of how social media contributes to personal brand development
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience in sports marketing, social media, digital marketing, brand partnerships, or a related field is preferred
  • Preference for juniors and seniors
