Senior ColdFusion/.NET Developer

Client is seeking an experienced Senior ColdFusion/.NET Developer to support a mission-critical application environment for the (FDA). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise applications built using Adobe ColdFusion and Microsoft .NET technologies.

This role requires a strong hands-on developer who can work effectively across both legacy and modern application environments, troubleshoot complex technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams, and develop secure, scalable solutions that meet federal application and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise web applications using Adobe ColdFusion/CFML and Microsoft .NET technologies.
• Maintain and enhance existing ColdFusion-based applications while supporting ongoing application modernization initiatives.
• Develop applications and services using C#, ASP.NET, .NET/.NET Core, MVC, and Web API technologies.
• Analyze existing application architecture and source code to identify opportunities for modernization, performance improvement, and technical debt reduction.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and web services to support communication between applications and external systems.
• Develop and optimize database queries, stored procedures, functions, and other data-access components.
• Work with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Troubleshoot complex application, database, integration, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Support application upgrades, patches, releases, and deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Develop secure applications in accordance with federal security requirements and industry development best practices.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, application architecture, security requirements, and development best practices.
• Develop unit tests and support functional, integration, regression, and performance testing activities.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, Database Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
• Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, technical discussions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
• Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions and implementation plans.
• Maintain technical documentation, including application architecture, system interfaces, deployment procedures, configuration information, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes and automated application deployments.
• Utilize source control and software development tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar technologies.
• Monitor application performance and recommend improvements related to scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Provide production support and respond to application incidents, defects, and user-reported issues as required.
• Collaborate with technical leadership on application modernization and migration strategies, including transitioning legacy ColdFusion functionality to modern technology platforms where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 7+ years of software application development experience, including significant hands-on experience developing enterprise web applications.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Adobe ColdFusion/CFML.
• Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework and/or modern .NET/.NET Core.
• Experience developing applications using MVC architecture and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs and web services.
• Strong experience with SQL and relational database development, preferably Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Experience analyzing and maintaining existing or legacy enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience troubleshooting application code, database issues, integrations, and production defects.
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices.
• Experience performing code reviews and developing maintainable, reusable, and well-documented software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting FDA, HHS, or another federal government agency.
• Experience modernizing or migrating legacy ColdFusion applications to .NET or other modern platforms.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, Angular, React, or similar front-end technologies.
• Experience with Entity Framework or other Object Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or SQL Server T-SQL.
• Experience developing applications within cloud environments such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of DevSecOps practices, automated testing, static code analysis, and vulnerability remediation.
• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity requirements, including secure coding, vulnerability management, and application security controls.
• Experience working with high-availability or mission-critical federal applications.
