A leading specialty insurance business is seeking an experienced Delegated Authority professional to join its established delegated underwriting function.
This is a visible and influential position offering significant ownership across the approval, oversight and ongoing management of delegated arrangements. Working closely with underwriting teams, senior stakeholders and external market participants, you will help ensure that coverholders, binding authorities and other facilities are managed effectively and in accordance with regulatory expectations, internal governance and commercial objectives.
Alongside business-as-usual delegated authority activity, the position offers meaningful involvement in projects, process improvement and wider transformation initiatives. It would suit someone who combines strong technical knowledge with the confidence to make decisions, challenge constructively and act as a trusted partner to underwriting teams.

Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of the review and approval of new coverholders, binding authorities and broker agreements.
- Manage complex coverholder applications, including engagement with relevant market bodies.
- Review and approve binding authority renewals across a range of delegated arrangements.
- Provide advice and oversight in relation to facilities such as lineslips, consortium arrangements and master policies.
- Partner closely with underwriting teams on delegated authority requirements, risks and operational matters.
- Lead oversight activity across coverholders, binders, brokers and other third-party arrangements.
- Act as an escalation point for complex delegated authority queries and issues.
- Identify, manage and support the resolution of breaches, audit actions and problem cases.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of work delivered across internal and outsourced teams.
- Produce clear and insightful reporting for underwriting stakeholders and governance forums.
- Drive improvements to delegated underwriting processes, controls and ways of working.
- Support the implementation of regulatory developments, new systems and business-wide change initiatives.
- Promote consistency, collaboration and best practice across the wider business.
- Strong experience within delegated authority, delegated underwriting management or a closely related London Market function.
- Detailed knowledge of coverholder approvals, binding authorities and delegated arrangement renewals.
- Experience handling complex applications and liaising with Lloyd's or other relevant market bodies.
- Good understanding of Lloyd's, FCA and broader regulatory requirements relating to delegated underwriting.
- The confidence and judgement to approve arrangements, manage risk and escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with underwriters and senior management.
- The ability to challenge constructively while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Experience contributing to process improvement, governance enhancement or operational change.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify trends, anomalies and areas of concern within data.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with limited supervision.
- ACII qualification or progress towards a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.
