Location: Jackson, MS
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite (Locals only, need local ID)

Position Overview

The Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (MS-ITS) is seeking an experienced Microsoft .NET Developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-level applications using Microsoft technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, experience in application development, and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using Microsoft .NET technologies.
• Develop application components, APIs, and backend services using C# and ASP.NET/.NET.
• Build and maintain web applications using appropriate frontend technologies.
• Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
• Integrate applications with databases, APIs, and external systems.
• Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and application deployments.
• Follow established coding standards, security guidelines, and software development best practices.
• Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, QA teams, and other developers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for application design, development, and support.
• Support application enhancements, production troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Microsoft .NET and C#.
• Hands-on experience with ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, or related Microsoft application development frameworks.
• Proficiency in SQL Server, including SQL queries, stored procedures, and database design.
• Experience developing web applications and RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web technologies.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, and application architecture.
• Experience with debugging, testing, and troubleshooting applications.
• Familiarity with source control tools such as Git or Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.
• Knowledge of Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Experience working in Agile or other structured software development environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
