Location: Remote (Only East Coast Candidates)

Duration: 6 contract to hire (no visa sponsorship)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Atlassian Platform Engineer is responsible for the administration, optimization, customization, and support of Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management environments. This role partners with business and technical teams to develop scalable solutions, improve collaboration, streamline workflows, and enhance overall platform performance. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a process-improvement mindset to maximize the value of enterprise collaboration tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement customized Jira workflows, issue types, screens, dashboards, and reporting solutions based on business requirements.

• Build, maintain, and support custom integrations, scripts, and enhancements using Atlassian APIs, SDKs, and related technologies.

• Administer Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management platforms, including user management, permissions, security settings, and system configurations.

• Develop automation solutions to streamline business processes, reduce manual effort, and improve operational efficiency.

• Integrate Atlassian applications with third-party systems, collaboration tools, project management platforms, and source control repositories.

• Lead platform upgrades, migrations, and cloud transition initiatives, including testing, validation, and deployment activities.

• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement improvements to ensure reliability, scalability, and optimal user experience.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, administrative procedures, and end-user training materials.

• Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support to users and administrators.

• Review existing platform configurations and recommend enhancements to improve functionality and adoption.

• Perform regular audits and cleanup of inactive projects, workflows, fields, spaces, pages, and other system artifacts.

• Conduct routine health checks, troubleshoot production issues, and implement corrective actions.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and platform optimization.

• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Hands-on experience administering Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management.

• Strong knowledge of Atlassian platform configuration, governance, and best practices.

• Experience developing custom solutions, integrations, and enhancements using REST APIs and related tools.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.

• Experience designing and implementing workflow automation and business process improvements.

• Knowledge of user administration, permission models, security controls, project configurations, and workflow management.

• Experience integrating enterprise applications through APIs, webhooks, and middleware solutions.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

• Atlassian certifications are a plus.
