job summary:

Will be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining environments consisting of servers running Red Hat Linux and VMware ESXi on HPE hardware and in Azure Cloud. Required Skills - Linux; Veeam; VMWare Job Duties - - Analyze, evaluate, plan, implement, configure, patch, upgrade and tune software and hardware in virtualized, highly available and stand-alone environments. - Document procedures and update standards for new or modified systems and environments. - Ability to work in a datacenter environment to provide technical support and asset management - Follow Change Management policy and Incident resolution timelines. Open and respond to required Change Requests and Work Tickets. - Review Red Hat and VMware security notifications and deploy updates if deemed necessary. - Gather, evaluate, and measure data on performance/capacity and report on key measurements. - Proactively identify problems and provide solutions to management before implementing change. - Prevent downtime, increase system availability, monitor performance, manage disk capacity, and ensure system security. - Design solutions to technical problems and implementation of new systems or infrastructure changes. - Monitor critical systems and take corrective actions prior to failures. - Prepare for disaster recovery and ensure that appropriate backups are completed and tested using Veeam Backup & Replication, including the management of Linux-based backup repositories and VMware proxies. - Troubleshoot software and hardware failures and identify network problems. Open necessary calls with vendors for support, prioritize and escalate. - Establish and maintain security and integrity controls. - Performs additional responsibilities as assigned. - Reviews current and emerging information technology and trends and provides short and long term roadmaps

qualifications:

Job Requirements - - Minimum 11 years' experience managing and maintaining Red Hat Linux and VMware environments including Red Hat Clustering, Resilient Storage and High Availability. - Experience with upgrading and patching using Red Hat Satellite required. - Proficient in scripting to create, modify, execute, and automate scripts to perform needed system functions. Red Hat Ansible a plus. - Experience with Backup, Recovery, Data Protection - expert proficiency with Veeam Backup & Replication required (experience with Dell EMC Avamar or similar legacy backup utility is a plus). - Experience with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Proliant BL Blade and DL Rack servers, c7000 and Synergy 12000 enclosures. - Experience with provisioning storage and overall SAN knowledge. 3PAR/Alletra Storage Array Administration a plus. - Experience with Red Hat ReaR/Kickstart tools, VMware appliances such as Site Recovery Manager/vRealize Operations Manager, and HPE GreenLake Edge-to-Cloud Platform a plus. - Solid understanding of UNIX-related network services: NFS, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP(s), etc. - Understanding and/or experience in technical support. - Excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Desired Skills & Experience - - 11 years+ experience in hybrid enterprise infrastructure (OnPrem / Cloud) - Proficiency in automation tools, CI/CD process, configuration, and scripting languages - Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker / Kubernetes) - Strong collaboration, interpersonal, problem-solving skills - Strong knowledge of IT security requirements
