SAP PP/QM Functional Consultant

Role: SAP PP/QM Functional Consultant
Location: Remote with 50% travel - expenses paid
Duration: 6 - 12 months contract

Job Description:
We are seeking a senior SAP functional consultant with strong expertise in Production Planning and Quality Management to support SAP manufacturing initiatives, system enhancements, and ongoing functional operations.
The consultant will work closely with business and technical teams to analyze manufacturing requirements, develop SAP solutions, support testing and deployments, and provide functional guidance across PP and QM processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional expertise across SAP PP and QM in manufacturing environments.
• Support SAP implementations, enhancements, rollouts, and production-support activities.
• Analyze business processes and translate operational requirements into SAP functionality.
• Configure and support production planning processes, including:
  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Demand management
  • Production planning and execution
  • Planned and production orders
  • Capacity planning
  • Bills of Material
  • Routings
  • Work centers
• Configure and support quality-management processes covering:
  • Incoming and in-process inspections
  • Final inspection processes
  • Inspection plans
  • Inspection characteristics
  • Results recording
  • Quality notifications
  • Defect handling
• Support integration between PP/QM and MM, SD, and FI/CO.
• Participate in solution analysis and recommend improvements to existing SAP processes.
• Work with business users to clarify requirements, identify gaps, and define functional solutions.
• Prepare functional specifications and configuration documentation for development and enhancement activities.
• Create test scenarios and execute functional, integration, regression, and UAT testing.
• Support defect analysis, issue resolution, cutover, deployment, and post-go-live activities.
• Provide functional support for production issues and assist with root-cause analysis.
• Develop user documentation and support knowledge-transfer activities.
• Provide guidance to other functional team members and contribute to solution reviews.
• Ensure proposed solutions follow SAP standard functionality and established implementation practices.

Required Background

• 10+ years of SAP functional consulting experience.
• Strong hands-on experience specifically in SAP PP and QM.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing and quality-management processes.
• Experience supporting SAP solutions through implementation, enhancement, and production-support phases.
• Strong experience with MRP, production execution, capacity planning, and quality inspection processes.
• Ability to independently gather requirements and convert them into functional SAP solutions.
• Experience working with technical teams on enhancements, integrations, and issue resolution.
• Strong documentation, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders in a client-facing environment.
• Prior experience supporting projects or operations in the onshore environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA PP/QM.
• Exposure to discrete, process, or repetitive manufacturing environments.
• Experience in full lifecycle SAP implementations.
• Knowledge of compliance and quality standards (ISO, FDA, GMP, etc.).
• Experience with PP-PI or advanced planning tools.
• Exposure to SAP Digital Manufacturing or MES integration.
• Prior experience in regulated industries such as pharma, medical devices, or food manufacturing.
