Job Description Summary
Electrical SQE for Configured Systems is responsible for development and monitoring supplier quality on assigned equipment/products/parts from supplier selection, approval, and qualification phase to final inspections to verify product compliance with technical and quality requirements before releasing their shipment to site.
Electrical SQE for Configured Systems will be working in collaboration with Engineering, Sourcing, Procurement and Project teams to support various project types of business (New Unit, CM&U Services & Balance of Plant).
Roles and Responsibilities
Electrical SQE Configured Systems will:
• Participate in Core Supplier Management teams for purchase orders to Configured Systems Electrical suppliers, together with the Sourcing/Fulfilment and Engineering representatives.
• Work with procurement teams to define / agree / communicate to all stakeholders a roadmap for supplier development activities, identifying the supplier quality tasks to ensure the right supply chain performance to meet business objectives.
• Track and drive progress against roadmap commitments, with regular reports to stakeholders and management.
• Execute activities to drive safety, quality and compliance excellence and support delivery and cost performance, within the supply base for the assigned product scope. These activities include:
Supplier on-boarding and qualification:
Support the supplier selection & on-boarding process for the Electrical Commodity including assessment of supplier’s capacity and technical & manufacturing capabilities through holistic process audits and lead/execute first piece qualifications including design reviews, special process audits, test witness, and in-process and final product inspections.
Support Supplier selection process, in cooperation with Sourcing and Engineering teams, performing technical assessment, and evaluating supplier capacity and capability (manufacturing, design, EHS, …),
Assess suppliers QMS and manufacturing process compliance through holistic process audits,
Record action plans and management supplier approvals in the supplier database,
Lead and execute first piece qualification programs with suppliers in cooperation with other functions and subject matter experts including but not limited to: during fabrication audits, special processes audit, design reviews, functional tests (if applicable) and final product release.
Record actions plan and approve qualification requests in the supplier database.
Supplier assessment and development:
Support supplier assessment and development by participation in pre-purchase order award meetings, contributing to supplier performance ratings, leading quarterly supplier quality review meetings, and initiating supplier quality improvement plans when appropriate,
Attend pre-award meetings with suppliers and Sourcing/Engineering,
Contribute to the Supplier Performance Rating process (Score Cards),
Review and update suppliers’ qualification status based on their performance assessment,
Initiate and manage supplier development actions and Q improvement plans.
Purchase Order Kick-off Meetings, Supplier Requirements, and Design Reviews
Team with engineering in leading supplier project kick-off meetings, developing supplier surveillance plans, executing supplier requirement review & design review meetings, and developing/reviewing supplier inspection/test plans & special process procedures,
Ensure readiness for kick-off meeting with dedicated checklist,
Confirm supplier surveillance strategy,
Organize the kick-off meetings with suppliers and relevant client representatives,
Support Engineering in Execution of Supplier Requirement Reviews (SRR) and Supplier Design Reviews (SuDR)
Where applicable, review supplier quality documentation (Inspection and Test Plans, special process and NDT procedures, …).
Execution of surveillance inspections:
Plan & execute a data & risk assessment driven audit strategy for your scope of supplier assignments that includes holistic process audits, special process audits and product inspections to verify compliance to client specifications & technical regulations/standards with timely audit report issuance and audit tracker updates,
Set up inspection strategy (standard quality inspection plans and additional inspections, as applicable),
Schedule quality surveillance and witness inspections at suppliers,
Perform surveillance and witness inspections,
Ensure product compliance with contract requirements and applicable regulations,
Timely review, validate and distribute inspection reports.
Release material for shipment:
Support the release of material for shipment by ensuring all supplier deviation requests are closed, reviewing end of manufacturing reports, verifying the shipment is unaffected by any containment activity, and authorizing shipment once all requirements have been met,
Ensure all deviations are closed,
Where applicable, review End of Manufacturing Reports (EoMR),
Authorize shipment once all quality requirements are met.
Manage technical deviations:
Actively manage supplier technical deviations, non-conformances, & field complaints, through dedicated follow up on supplier audit findings, leading RCAs/RCIs with rigorous follow up on CAPA Implementation/effectiveness, conducting thorough containment, supporting vendor recovery with concise liability comments, and routinely monitoring supplier liable failure data to drive continuous improvements ensuring all the aforementioned activities are in strict compliance with client supplier quality QMS procedures,
Continuously follow up the punch items and nonconformities resulting from the quality surveillance inspections up to their closure,
Lead RCAs and RCIs with suppliers as per business-defined impact thresholds, support supplier to create the corrective and preventative actions, monitor their implementation and perform the effectiveness check,
Analyze customer escapes and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and support vendor recovery process,
Initiate and execute Supplier Quality Improvement Programs with top offenders, and, preventatively, with other suppliers of critical MLIs.
Manage holistic process audits and other supplier development activities:
Actively support and drive all supplier quality improvement initiatives including the planning, execution, CAPA follow-up and report issuance of supplier holistic audits, supporting supplier PFMEA/DFMEA development, supporting supplier implementation of the designated supplier quality representative (DSQR) program, and facilitating the supplier technical advisor site installation & commissioning program including lessons learned dissemination,
Organize holistic process audits,
Monitor the closure of corrective actions based on audit findings,
Record the corresponding reports in the supplier database,
Facilitate supplier Technical Advisor site installation and/or commissioning support and the corresponding lessons-learned dissemination,
Support suppliers to execute DFMEA (where applicable) and PFMEAs.
Monitor & manage supplier quality key process indicators through committed dedication to the daily management process
Relentlessly monitor and manage all supplier quality key process indicators (KPI) by dedicated review of the daily management dashboard and timely updates to the KPI tracker as well as the associated tool to prevent crossing level 3 thresholds and accumulation of backlog.
If applicable, act as Technical Commodity Coordinator (optional special mission nomination, if the position holder is in possession of adequate technical and leadership capabilities)
First point of contact for interface functions for their respective commodities,
Support SQE technical competency development and Lessons-Learned implementation,
Support Projects’ ITO regarding supplier quality requirements, resources, supplier TA cost, audit/inspection travel & lodging budget, and second-party cost estimate,
Participate in Global Quality Value Stream activities,
Lead/coach major NCR resolution and RCAs,
Prepare Standard PQ Requirements
