Job Description

Job Summary
A growing organization in Columbia, SC is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a long-term temporary contract opportunity. This onsite role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys variety, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to make an immediate impact supporting day-to-day human resources operations.
The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with an established HR team that values accuracy, confidentiality, teamwork, and responsive employee support. This is a strong opportunity to gain hands-on experience across recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits support, payroll coordination, and HR administration while contributing to a professional and collaborative workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily HR operations, employee requests, and general human resources processes.
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring activities.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Support benefits administration, employee communications, payroll, and timekeeping processes.
  • Help coordinate HR initiatives and ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Job type: Long-term temporary contract.
  • Schedule: Full-time.
  • Work arrangement: Onsite in Columbia, SC.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, recruiting, and employee documentation processes.
  • Assist with benefits administration, payroll coordination, and timekeeping support.
  • Maintain confidential HR records and provide responsive employee support.
  • Coordinate HR communications, initiatives, and administrative tasks.
  • 2+ years of professional human resources experience.
  • General knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting HR operations in a government, public sector, or highly regulated environment.
  • Prior experience with employee records, onboarding workflows, benefits support, payroll, or timekeeping processes.
  • Familiarity with HR systems or applicant tracking systems.
