Want to design smarter, greener buildings—and see your work make a real impact? My client is growing, and looking for a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to strengthen their Southampton team.
From new builds and refurbishments to plant upgrades and energy-efficiency projects, you’ll work on varied briefs that blend smart engineering with practical net zero thinking.

The role

You’ll own mechanical designs from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and technical delivery. Expect plenty of variety, real responsibility and the support of a collaborative design team.

• Carry out site surveys, condition surveys and technical investigations
• Design heating, hot and cold water, ventilation, cooling, drainage and low/zero-carbon systems
• Produce AutoCAD drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and technical submissions
• Complete design calculations using industry software
• Support project management and contract administration

What you’ll bring

Whether you’re stepping up or already operating at senior level, you’ll be confident taking ownership of mechanical design work and producing accurate, high-quality outputs. You’ll also need:

• Mechanical building services design experience
• Confident AutoCAD skills
• Good attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• A full UK driving licence
