Job Description
James Scott, LLC is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support one of its top-tier intelligence customers. This role is critical in delivering mission-essential technology solutions to the DoD IC, ensuring the seamless operation of systems that safeguard national security.
Key Responsibilities shall include: • System Management: Maintain multi-user systems, collaborating with network engineers and IT staff for optimal performance.
- Resource Monitoring: Oversee system resources (CPU, disk usage, response times) to ensure efficient network operations.
- Systems Security Administration: Implement security best practices, manage user accounts, and harden systems against threats.
- Tier 3 Support: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues as a Tier 3 support specialist.
- System Configuration & Optimization: Install and configure operating systems, system-wide software, and optimize system performance.
- Backup & Recovery: Manage hardware/software installations, recommend system improvements, and establish robust backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Policy Development: Develop and enforce policies and standards for effective computing resource utilization.
- User Interaction & Vendor Management: Work with end-users to assess requirements, evaluate vendor products, and recommend hardware/software purchases.
Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 8+ years of experience (additional experience may substitute for a degree).
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, specifically with Linux or CentOS.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.
- Experience maintaining applications built on PostgreSQL or Oracle databases.
- Proficiency in writing scripts for system monitoring, log analysis, and automation.
- Experience writing SQL and PL/SQL for data reporting and modifications.
- Hands-on experience with Keytool and OpenSSL.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting Java & Oracle applications.
- XML proficiency.
- DoD 8570 Compliant with an active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, GICSP, SSCP, etc.).
- Experience managing systems in cloud environments.
- Understanding of Firewalls and AWS Security Groups.
Desired Qualifications: • Linux+ certification
- RHCSA/RHCE certification
- Current CI polygraph
- Microsoft MCSA certification
- VMware Certified Professional
