Leidos’ Defense Sector – Directed Energy Division in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Mid-Level Software/Simulation Engineer to assist and perform a variety software development for a variety of electro-mechanical-optical experiments for an applied R&D contract. You will get to work alongside a multi-disciplinary team, in collaboration with Government researchers doing fun experiments primarily in a laboratory. The candidate will be responsible for performing the software engineering function, including the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform requirements definition for testbeds and test equipment for a variety of electro/mechanical-optical experiments, based on provided test objectives and develop software control solutions.
• Assist in the design, buildup, and calibration custom testbeds and test equipment for optical tracking.
• Recommend and design, build test instrument control and data acquisition hardware.
• Modify and develop data acquisition tools using software such as LabVIEW.
• Modify and develop data reduction and analysis tools using software such as MATLAB.
• The ideal candidate will work independently as well as with a team, learn new skills quickly, demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be organized, detail-oriented, careful, flexible, and self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, systems engineering or equivalent related field with 2+ years of experience or Master's degree in one of the above-mentioned fields with 0-2 or more years of experience.
• Must be a U.S Citizen.
• Must be able able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Experience with the following: operating mechanical-electro-optical equipment such as, sources, detectors, sensors, lasers, and characterization equipment; collecting, analyzing, interpreting data, writing test plans, documenting test results and generating reports; performing computer-based data acquisition and analysis.
• Experience in in the areas of engineering, requirements, design, development, database development, data analysis.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW (Real-Time, FPGA, DIADem, Modbus), MATLAB, Simulink, FORTRAN, C (GCC and other compilers), C++ (Visual C++), C#, IDL, Tcl/Tk, BASIC, JAVA, HTML, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, Real Time Workshop, SQL, MySQL, MS Access and Assembly Language.
• Be able to provide software support, data analysis support, and system operation for optical tracking systems, including programmable Logic Controller (PLC) development.
• Experience with satellite tracking system, modeling, war-gaming, software requirements, software design, software development, database requirements, database design, database development, data analysis, network support, develop/test graphical user interfaces, Link-16 communication, system administration, and field-testing expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience is desired in testbed design, build, alignment, calibration; data acquisition development; test planning, and test reporting on optical and laser test platforms with knowledge of current Air Force and military radar, tracking and target aimpoint correlation.
• Active Secret security clearance

Pay Range:

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
