POSITION PURPOSE
This role is located at Huntsville Surgical Partners, the new Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) situated near Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Under general supervision of the ASC Administrator, the Scheduler coordinates the accurate scheduling and coding of surgical procedures. This role serves as a key liaison, maintaining professional and frequent communication with physicians, office staff, and the nursing team to ensure seamless center operations.
LATITUDE, CONTACTS/INTERACTIONS
All positions of Huntsville Surgical Partners & Huntsville Memorial Hospital are part of an interdisciplinary team, and as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members. Primarily interacts with ASC staff, medical staff, patients, and visitors.

- Schedule procedures and surgeries accurately and without conflicts. Determine length of case and if special equipment is required.
- Enters data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and coordinate with insurance verifications.
- Maintain current and deleted CPT and ICD-9 codes.
- Maintains and distributes surgery schedules, timely.
- Obtains physician’s signature if required.
- Telephone communications both internally and externally.
- Other duties as assigned, may include a combination of positions and responsibilities.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI.
- Maintains a safe work environment and reports safety concerns appropriately.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain role responsibility and accountability.
- Participate in the professional activities of the Center.
- Ability to communicate effectively using proper channels.
- Ability to relate well to people.
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
- Awareness of the importance of good interpersonal relations with allied health care personnel.
- Ability to provide accurate scheduling information to officers.
- Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Two years current medical office experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent: sitting.
- Occasional: standing, walking, & reaching.
- Visual and hearing acuity required. Work is inside, with good ventilation and comfortable temperature.
- Possible exposure to: toxic/caustic chemicals or detergents, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens.
